James Hays Lawson

familyMy name is James Lawson. I am Lawson at Law, PLLC. I have four daughters and a long suffering wife. I take care of them by taking care of my clients.

I have helped numerous clients through bankruptcy and beyond. I have been helping my clients fight debt collectors and junk-debt buyers for the past seven years. I recently attended the FCRA Conference sponsored by the National Association of Consumer Attorneys. I have over 18 years of experience practicing law. I have knowledge of a wide-range of Kentucky law from my time as senior staff attorney for Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Martin E. Johnstone. I have appeared in all levels of the Kentucky Court system: District Court, Circuit Court, the Kentucky Court of Appeals, and the Kentucky Supreme Court. I have numerous published and non-published opinions in both appellate courts. I have also appeared in both the Eastern and Western District federal courts of Kentucky and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. As your lawyer, I will fight hard for you.

I know what it’s like to be in financial distress.

In the great economic collapse of 2008, my employer offered to let me keep my job in exchange for a 60% pay cut. I declined the offer and founded Lawson at Law, PLLC. I came close to my own personal economic collapse. We almost lost our home. We almost were put out on the street. So I know what it’s like to be scared by the uncertainty of not knowing what’s going happen next. I know what it’s like to wake up in the middle of the night wondering what bills have to be paid and which can be put off. I know what the pressure of having family depending on you and being afraid of letting them down. And I know how hard it is to ask for help when you need it the most. I’m here if you need me.
